The Family Development Program

The Family Development Program is a powerful 3-day-training that uses meaningful activities and current psychology research to enhance the capacity of parents of young children and adolescents to become sensitive leaders of their families so they can help their children develop their own capabilities.

Through our workshops, we offer knowledge and tools to reinforce parents’ sense of pride and confidence in themselves, their children and their community.

In this training, we review child emotional development during each stage of their development. We focus on how to:

  • Help children self-regulate at each stage
  • Act in a crisis as parental figures
  • Communicate and strengthen your relationship with your child
  • Manage difficult behaviors, including impulsivity and risky behavior

This program is based on Attachment Theory, Theories of Complex Trauma, Mentalization Techniques, the Nonviolent Communication Model and Relational Psychoanalysis.

The Family Development Program was first offered in Wundanyi, Kenya in September 2022 to 45 low-income (single and married) mothers managing challenging family situations at home.
