Tony Silard, Executive Director of The Center for
Social Leadership
Tony Silard specializes in facilitating and presenting at leadership conferences for organizational and corporate executives. Over the last six years thousands of executives have attended Silard’s multi-day leadership and capacity-building conferences – including Nonprofit Leadership Conferences in various U.S. states, Mexico, India and Zambia.
Silard completed his Master's in Public Policy with a focus on Nonprofit Leadership at Harvard University and his B.A. at UC/Berkeley. Yet the wealth of Silard’s experience in Nonprofit Leadership comes from his 9 years of running an international nonprofit, for which he raised over $15 million, developed 12 experiential education programs and managed a staff of 35. He also served for two years in the Peace Corps in Kenya. In addition to facilitating and presenting at leadership conferences, Tony does facilitation and training work with various nonprofit and corporate boards and staff in the areas of strategic planning, staff and board leadership, internal communication, fundraising and organizational development.
The response from Nonprofit Directors to Tony’s leadership conferences has been overwhelmingly positive:
- 85% of the Executive Directors and executive staff said they would attend a second leadership conference the following year.
- 97% said they would recommend the conference to other nonprofit executives
“Tony was the perfect facilitator as he had walked the
path I am on...
I need more time for myself, I need to
find balance and hone skills for my staff. I can learn
a lot from Tony’s calmness
and integrity”.
-- Suzanne McKechnie Klahr
Executive Director, YouthBuild
“Tony’s sessions were practical, relevant,
thought-
provoking and clear. I would have
enjoyed more time with him”.
-- Shaheen Mistri,
Executive Director, Akanksha
Bombay, India
“Tony did not allow any one person to dominate.
He really searched to bring out ideas from each
participant….He isn’t afraid to push us outside of our
typical approach and boundaries…Tony energized us
to run with the ball now so we’re not dependent on
an ‘outside expert’ …He was very respectful of time and organized!… It was easy to stay for 3.5-4 hours –
they just flew by!…”
